PUBLIC NOTICES. REGULATIONS' FOR DEER-SHOOT-ING IN'THE COUNTIES OF HUTT AND FEATHERSTON (WAINUD, AKITIO, TARAWA FOREST RESERVE, AND TAIIIAPE. JELLICOE, Governor-Goneral. IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Animals Protection Act, IDOB (hereinafter reTerred t<j as “the eaid Act”), I, John llushworth, Viscount Jeilxcoe, Governor-General .of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deershooting season in that part of the Wellington Acclimatisation ed in the First Schedule hereto, arid, further prescribing affecting such deer-shooting, the form of license, and the fee payable in respect thereof.

REGULATIONS. . 1. Rod-deer stags may lx» taken or killed within the district described m the First Schedule hereto from the Ist April, 1922, to the 31st May, 1922 (both days inclusive). 2. Licenses to take or kill such doer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Wellington, or by the Postmasters at Masterton, Carterton, Featherston, Greytown, Eketahuna, Paliiatua, Makuri, Pongaroa, Palmerston North, Paroparaumu, Otaki, 'l'aihnpe, Mangaweka, Lower Hutt, and Shannon, on payment by the licensee of a license foo of ,£3. Not more than ono such license shall be iesueil to any one person. Every such license shall be in tho form in the Second Schedule hereto. 3. No licensee under those regulations shall take or kill more than two stags, nnd no stag ehall be taken or* killed caiTying antlers with less than ten points. , , 4. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant while stalking in the district to which his license relate. 5. Nothing in these regulations or fn any license issued thereunder snail bo deemed to authorise a licensee to take or kill any stag in any part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District otlier tlian that part to which these regulations apply or in any other acclimatisation district. . ~, „ 6. Regulations as to deer tags, per Nesv Zealand Gazette No. 40. \ol I, of 20th Mav, 1900, page 1408. shall be. strictly adhered to by each licensee, who in addition thereto shall return all unused "tags” to tho secretary of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, Wellington, immediately he has finished r / a ta, ” >r the season for which such tags have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot. 7 Nothin*’ in those regulations shall be deemed to authorise any person to sell any deer or any part thereof. 8. Every person who commits a breach of these regulations is liable, on sumin ary conviction, to a fine not exceeding .poo / FIRST SCHEDULE. District to which License Relates All that area commencing at the Onoke Lake, thence northward along the west side of the Wairaxapa Lake to Featherston, thence along the railway line to Eketahuna, thence eastward in a direct line to the sea at Castlejxnut, thence northward along Cue coast to the Waimata River, thenco in a direct Imo westward to Palmerston North thenco along tho railway lino to 1 aekakaaiU, thence wuthward to tho sea. at Petone, thence along the coast to the point of commencement at the Onoke lAke. Also all that area within a. Imo commencing at the mouth of the Ka/w. tau River, thenco westward river to its junction with the lourangaki Stream, thenco along the stream to its source at tho summit of tho Buahine Ranges, thence northward co Motopuha., Whence westward to lo Iwtoiti, thence southward to Moawhango, to the point of commencement at the mouth of the Kawatau. Kiver. Areas Excluded Therefrom. From tho sen at Petone following the railway lino to Upper Hutt, thence following the Mutt River to its junction with the Lesser Hutt, thence m a northerly direction to Mount Hector, thenco in a northerly direction to Mount Crawford, thence north to Mount Dundas, thence in a north-westerly direction to Shannon, Whence southward to Petone, the point of commencement. . . Also, all that piece of land containing 6500 acres, being parts of Blocks VIII, IX, X, XVII, Rimutaka Survey District, and shown on tho Crown Lands provisional map of tho Hutt County as a timber and water reserve (tho said land being the catchment area for the Wellington City Council's reservoir, situated, nt WalYrai'-O'-mata.). SECOND SCHEDULE. No Liceuso to Take or Kill Red-doer Stags. , of , having this day paid the sum of J)3, is hereby authorised to take or kill two red-doer stags, of not less chan ten points, within that Bart of tho Wellington Acclimatisation 'istrict described in the endorsement hereon,, from the Ist April, 1922, to the 31st May, 1922 (both days inclusive). This license is issued subject to the .provisions of tho Animals Protection 'Act, 1908, and to the regulations thereunder in force within tho said part of tlie Wellington Acclimatisation District.
