HATAITAI BATHING CLUB
The annual meeting of the Hataitai Bathing Club was held on Tuesday evening, when officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow:—President, CapI tain Burgess; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Bell, H. D. Edwards, G. Sadd, G. Halliday, A. Buckmaster, and F. Furkert; committee, Messrs. Searle, Ardell, Pryor. C. Claridge, Leyard, G. Edwards, and P. Edwards; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. Sam Cunliffe; hon. auditor, Mr. J. L. Arens. It was stated in the annual report that the club membership roll showed 5G life members and G 8 ordinary members. The (season was an improvement on the previous three, and in consequence. there were some record attendances. At the annual sports much improvement was noted in th.- junior events. The, young people and their teachers were complimented on their fine performances. C. Claridge won the club championship, which carries the Boyd Cup and president’s medal, with Mis’ Southerland first lady. At the Don/inion swimming championships, held in Dunedin in February, the club had three Wellington representatives—C. Claridge tintermediate champion) and A. Claridge and P. Edwards (ini-mhers of the lifesaving team). The coming season promised to bo very instructive to the junior’. The chnnwionshin meeting ! s to be held in Wellington, in February, end ne s nmo of th" girls showed exccnt’onally fine, form it was hon-d to gire them a try out. The work of those who had assisted towards the club’s progress was nnpreciated. and thanks were expressed to donors of gifts.
