THE CHURCH UNIVERSAL

On Wednesday night, in tha committee loom of tho Town Hall, Mr. Vivian 11. R. Deacon, as head of tho Church Universal, delivered an interesting address entitled "What we have done, are doing, and intend to do." In less than two months, said Mr. Deacon, they had banded together a number of students known as the Wellington Occult Class, who met weekly to study They had inaugurated a Sunday School for adults and children; published and circulated a monthly magazine, besides holding and lectures for the public dur--ing the week and three times each Sunday. They had opened tho "Truth Centre” at 80 Willis Street, where the public could have free access to their literature and obtain full information of their work. All thia in less than two months I Such was the power of tho Holy Spirit in their midst. As to their intentions for tho fnturo: They intended forming an "Order of Mercy," the members of which would undertake sick visitation, prison and asylum visitation, the distribution of literature, finding of employment for those who were in need of work, etc. They also hoped to initiate strong activity along social lines, including walking tours and picnic fparfies for the young people during tho summer months, the organisation of socials. dances, and repertoire productions, formation of a literary and debating society, etc. These things were not vague hopes, but possibilities in. process ot formation. What was the impetus that hod generated all this activity? What was tho secret of their success? Tt was because thev hod been relying on God ns their principle, rnd not upon personal tty. and if God was for them, who should be against them’ Tie trusted that the Spirit”of God would continue to guid-s them in the future as In the /past, and that each one present wxmld depend upon Him alone for health, success, and happiness." At the close of (ho lecture n ■number of those present rose and testified tn flm healing power of praveT, and to the help they had received from the spiritual teaching given by Mr. Deacon.
