DAMAGE BY FIRE
CLOTHING FACTORY GUTTED. Br Telegraph.—Frees Association. New Plymouth, September 19. A clothing factory owned by F. AMoore, and occupied by E. Bergman, employing about thirty hands, was gutted by fire at midnight on Saturday. The building was the first Freemasons’ Hall in Taranaki. It was erected in tho late sixties. The stock and plant were totally destroyed. The insurances, £2400, do not nearly cover the loss. NEWSPAPER OFFICE DESTROYED. Bv Telegraph.—Frees Association. Wairoa, September 19. The Wairoa "Guardian” office was burned down at 7-30 o’clock this morning. Apparently the gasoline apparatus connected with th© linotype exploded. The fire spread rapidly as there were no fire-fighting appliances. The neighbouring building, occupied by A. J. Chicken and G. C. Fletcher, escaped, owing to brick walls. c The insurances are not available.
