ENGLAND AND FRANCE

BLAME FOR PRESENT STRAINED RELATIONS ATTACK ON MR. LLOYD GEORGE By Toleerapn—PrcSs Association— Oonyrlirhl (Rec. September 19, 5.5 p.m.) / London, September 19. Tho "Morning Post's” Paris correspondent states that Mr. Alfred Zimmern Wilson, Professor of International Politics, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, writing in the "Matin," violently attacks Mr. Lloyd George, to whom ho attaches the sole blame for the present strained Anglo-French relations, and recalls tho French disappointments over tho broken promises relating to tne trial of the ex-Kaiser and tho AngloAmerican guarantee to protect France. Be points out Jh'it the English people have as many broken pledges with which to reproach Mr. Lloyd George. He declares that Mr. Lloyd George continues to hold office solely because ho. has placed power above duty and brought tjiie art of political manoeuvring to a perfection hitherto unknown in England, and dislocated party politics, thereby preventing tbo iovmatlon of an effective Opposition. He concludes: “Tho English act slowly but’ sooner or later, prpbably sooner, Mr. Lloyd George will disappear, making room for a statesman, whether from the right or tbo left does not matter, who will represent true British tradition, and whoso word will be his bond. If France is patient a little longer, the old camaraderie of the trenches will replace tho present mis-trust."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
