Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At our wool skin, and hide sale held on September 15 we submitted a largo catalogue to a full bench of buyers, who competed keenly for everything offered. Prices for oddments of wool were on a par, while sheepskins advanced id. on any good lines. Ox hides advanced Id. to 2d: per lb., cow hides from id. to Id. per lb., calf skins were very keenly sought after, some lines on our catalogue making up ns high as 18d. per lb. These calf skins worked out from Bs. to 12s. each. Tallow was also firm at'late rates. We quote:—Wool: Crossbred, 2Jd. to Sid.; lambs’, 3d. to sd. Sheepskins: Crossbred, fine, 3d. to 3RI.J crossbred, coarse, 2d. to 3d.; crossbred, damaged and inferior, Id. to 2(1.; crossbred, damp and salted, In. 9d. to 3s. 3d. each. Hides: Ox, heavy 14x1. to 14,’d., medium 13d. to 13$d., light Gd. to 7-jd.; cow, heavy 5Jd. to Gd., medium 4Jd. to s{d., light 4d. to Gd., cut, slippy, and inferior, 2d. to GJd., cut, slippy; and * T ' l ’®ior 2d. to G-Jd; horse 'hides, 7s. 0,,. to 9.5. each; yearling and kip, toil, to 12<1.; calf skins, best lines, IM.’; calf, good IGid. io, 17Jd., stained lfld. ’to IGJd- cut, slippy, and infrior Gd. to Wd. ’Pallow, £l5 to £27 nor ton. Mr. T. Skeyhill, known as the "Blind Poet,” was 'a Through Ipaesenger for Sydney from San Francisco by the Tahiti, which arrived on Saturday. Ho lost his sight during the war, hut has since recovered it. lie did a groat deal of recruiting for the United fSntes while Im was blind.
