PALMERSTON NORTH EFFORT. ITtom Our Own OorresDondent.’ Palmerston North, September 17. The eight-weeke* effort to raise funds for providing a St. Helens Home for the Palmerston North hospital district closed last night, when it was announced that the sum of J 14353 Bs. 2d. had. been raised out of the .£lO,OOO which .was aimed at. The entertainments given included a revue, under the management of Mr. S. Lints, which brought in the bulk of the money. At the final performance on Friday night the crowning of the carnival queen took place. As the expenses in. connection with the cffolit will run into about .£lOOO, this will leave a balance in hand of about £3500, with which to purchase a section and commence tho buildings.
