By Telegraph.--Press Association. Stratford, July 28. The interprovincial llugby match, Wanganui v. Taranaki, was played this afternoon before over 2000 spectators. It resulted iu a win for Taranaki by 9 points (two unconverted tries and. a penalty goal) to 6 points (a penalty goal and an unconverted try). Play in trie first half was interesting, being at times fast and open, with the advantage to Taranaki*, who were playing with the sun in their eyes. A penalty was kicked tor Taranaki within twenty minutes of starting, and the second score, a try by Mab one, came ten minutes later. W anganui scored a penalty goal shortly before hantime. On changing ends, the visitors made the game open, and assumed the aggressive, maintaining the advantage almost wholly throughout. But the Tara-i naki defence was too solid. Half-way through the spell, as the result of a fine uaßslng rush, Collier scored at the corner llai- A lew minutes before the call 01 time, as the result of a forward rush, followed by passing, Roberts, scored tor Taranaki. It was rather a disappointing game, und Taranaki were lucky to win. The weather was fine and the ground in good . order. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
