FALSE HOPES THAT GERMANY would Bear burden. Paris, July 27. A pro-Budget statement of the Minister of Finance (M. Doumer) points out that the total debt amounts to 264 millions. False hopes had been entertained that conquered Germany would bear the whole oVTeance’s financial sacrifices, but the only safe road was to absolutely balance expenditure and receipts.. The military expenditure for 1922 shows a reduction of five hundred millions compared with that of 1921.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
