JAPANESE STRIKERS
5) A CRUSHING DEFEAT. (Rec. July 28, 9.15 p.m.) Tokio, July 27. The strike at Kawasaki dockyards and Kobe have apparently ended in the crushing defeat of the strikers, thirty per cent, of the workers have returned to the shops unconditionally, and the remainder are expected to return shortly. These workers are the most skilled class in Japan, and in a favourable position to enforce their demand. The defeat is considered a blow against the right to organise unions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
