ROSE AND CARNATION CLUB

ANNUAL SHOW TO BE HELD. Mr. J. B. Harcourt, president of the Wellincton Rose and Carnation Club, was in the chair at the annual meeting of the club, held last evening at Dustin’s. Cuba Street. The annual report and balance-sheet were presented. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, regretted that the society had not progressed during the past two yearn.. There were various causes for this, out the fact remained that, while two or three years ago they had 200 members, now they had but half that number. It would lie their duty to put vigour and energy I into the club, and try to get new members. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of -Cl 5 15.,. so that the club was in a sound financial condition. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. J. B. Harcourt i vice-presidents, Lady Luke, Mrs. Arthur Pearce. Mrs. H. M. Gore, Mrs. YV. Turn, bull Mrs. C. F. Vallance, Mrs. (Dr.) Hislop. Mrs. R. M. Joseph,- Miss Marchant. Mrs. G. Johnson, Mrs. S. Kirkcaldic. Messrs. C. W. Tnngham, V,. J. Thompson, J- J- Kerslake, and r. Waugh: management committee, Messrs. A Richards, W. G. Bock, G. Jeffery, W J. Harland, J. G. Helyer, J. W. Porteous. and J. G. M’Kenzie; hon. auditor.'Mr. R. M. Griffiths; hon. treasurer, Mr' S. G. Pearce; hon. secretary, Mr. M. Thew. It was decided to alter the name of the society to the ■Wellington Horticultural Society. x It was decided to hold the annual rose show on 'Wednesday, November 16.
