EXCAVATIONS AT POMPEII
IMPORTANT DISCOVERIES OF
TREASURES. (Rec. July 26, 8.10 p.m.) Rome, July 25. Important new discoveries of treasures at Pompeii have been, made recently as the result of excavations which have been in progress since 1911. The discoveries include a number of fine paintings, one depicting twelve custodians; also a city house with the remains of a balcony on the first floor, two beautiful porticoes. and a pergola’.' Ateve four shops was an elaborate bar covered with election posters. A sacrificial altar, with the ashes of the last sacrifice preserved, has also been found. —“The Times.”
