LYALL BAY INTERESTS

, RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. The executive of the Lyall Bay Ratepayers’ Association met last last night, Mr. A. C. Blake presiding. Messrs. W. T. H. Edwards and J. B. Roid were welcomed ns new members. It was stated that the recent picture entertainment in aid of the funds of the association showed a profit of JIG. The secretary reported that the City Council had not made a definite statement in respect to the demand for a proper footpath in Queen’s Drive, between Coutt's Street and Freyberg Street. Tho council had intimated that it was short of money. Tho tramway authorities had admitted that overcrowding occurred on the 7.29 a.m. workers’ car from the Bay, and advised that arrangements had been made for the running of an extra car. Messrs. Sherwood (representing the association) and Jones (representing the Eastern Suburbs League) were appointed a deputation to wait on the tramway authorities to ask for change-over tickets at Kilbirnie. Messrs. Leuchars and Jones were appointed to represent Lyall Bay at ths conference called to discuss the proposed civic league. Messrs. Blake and' Jones were reappointed delegates it> tho Eastern Suburbs League for the ensuing year.
