CHRISTCHURCH-LYTTELTON LINE

< f Br Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, June 25. The necessity tor improved facilities on the Christchurch-Lyttelton railway line was strongly urged on the Minister of" Railways by two large and representative deputations. The speakers stated that trade was handicapped, shipping delayed, and grain transport held up, because those in authority failed to realise the importance of the line ’as a connecting link. The Minister’s reply was to the effect that lack of money alone prevented the Government going on with works of urgency. When the time came it would probably bo found that plans for improvement on the Hiley scheme had been drawn up.
