NOTES AND COMMENTS By Glencos For the concluding day of the Hastings meeting there are good attendances, and with the course much drier the racing may be full of surprises. Torps. the fullbrother to Audax. was going extra well •r.'ncnhe ran off on Thursday, and in. such a weak field he may not experience much difficulty in forfeiting his maiden status. Demagogue is a fresh horse in tho Fernhill Hurdles and such a good performer on the flat is sure to be well supported, more so now that he has been thoroughly schooled. The two other runners in Penury Hose and Ranmanuwhiri are both engaged again, but their opponent is a much better class horse. Pavilion has already won two races at the meeting, but to-day he is opposed by

a better class. Stnrdee may see a short price in the June Steeples. He is n fresh horse, and is improving with every race he gets. Khartoum and Gay Boy should both go well. Dribble did not jump we.l on Wednesday, but the schooling will do her good, and she should go a lot better to-day. Mill o’ Gowrie will ret a fast n-iee but she has a big weight, and Dribble tnnv be able to account for her over the final couple of furlongs Paddington Green is improving with the raoinp he is getting, and he also should shape well. , , , . .. . Simonides is in a class by himself in the Lady's Necklace, but his owner may reserve him for the sprint event. Cleft is i> useful horse, and Earthshine can also pct. the distance. . Mort Avis has been raised 111 b. in the Suntra Handicap for winning on Thursday.
