» HONORARY STAFF WISHES TO •PARTICIPATE. At the monthly meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday tho following letter was received from the chairman of the honorary staff: — “At a meeting of the honorary staff of the Wellington Hospital held on June 14 it was resolved that in accordance with the custom at Home and in other centres of New Zealand the honorary staff as a body should, as occasion requires, be consulted by the board and medical superintendent in regard to the management of the institution. The honorarystaff is intensely interested in the welfare of the Wellington Hospital, gives a great deal of its time gratuitously in the service of the hospital, and is in a. position to be helpful to the board and to advance progress of tho institution., At present in various centres in New Zealand representatives of the honorary staffs are co-opted members of the hospital board. The members of the committee of the honorary staff were instructed to wait on tho board as a deputation in further explanation, if reThe chairman (Mr. F. He admitted the valuable work done by the honojary staff, and was inclined to favour the proposal. ... , - Thd Rev. Dr. Elliott pointed out that the members of the board wore only laymen who knew nothing of medical and surgical work, and he wns sure that men especially skilled in such matters could bo of very valuable assistance to the board in the management, of the hospital.
