A correspondent writing to the “Herald” urges that if the departure of the mail steamers for New Zealand could Im delayed a few hours it would be a. great advantage to business people. Ho points out that under the present arrangements mails for steamers departing on Thursday forenoon, close at. 5 o clock on Wednesday, seventeen hours before the hour of departure, while in other States the mails close a day earlier, on account of the steamer being timed to leave before the arrival of the Melbourne and Brisbane expresses. —Press Assn.
