FORTNIGHTLY MEETING
The Wellington City Council met. last night. Tho Mayor (Mr. 11. A. Wright, M.P.) presided, and the other membars present were: Messrs. W. J. Thompson, W. H. Bennett, H. D. Bennett, M. I l ’. Luckie, B. G. H. Burn, S. H. Underwood, T. Forsyth, P. Fraser, M.P., J. M. Dale, J. Burns, C. H. Chapman, L. M'Kenzie, C. B. Norwood, and Airs. A. M ‘Vicar.
Authority was granted for the extension of the storm-water drain at Grass Street. It was decided that the Khandallah Public Hall should bo painted at an estimated cost of JH47 10s. Tho council agreed to take over as an access way under the provisions of the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment 'Act, 1919, the access way between Cleremont Terraco and Wesley Road, (subject to the requirements of, tho city engineer being complied with, and to proper provision being made with reference to disposal of the storm water which discharges on to tho land. The request of the Wellington Croquet Club that the ground set aside ns a children’s play station on tho Town Belt, off Moin Street should be granted to tho club as a third green, was not acceded to. The Reserves Committee reported that it had already made provision for portion of tho Kilbirnie Reserve to be used as a croquet court, and that this would relieve congestion of the Mein Street courts.
