REEFTON MINES
NEW AGREEMENT BETWEEN MEN AND COMPANIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Reefton, Juno 9. Tho Reefton mining companies have entered into an industrial agreement for one year with the Miners’ Union on tho same terms as the last award, with tho further concession granted the men of six hours’ pay for tho four hours constituting tho Saturday shift. Tho terms of the now agreement were submitted to tho Waiuta and Big River branches, and have be.n accepted. It will bo signed forthwith.
Mr. Fagan, general secretary, states that the concession has been received with general satisfaction by tho miners, it being a recognition by the employers of the principle of payment for tho Saturday half-holiday. Reefton is tho first minors' union in the Dominion to gain recognition of the Saturday half-holiday.
