Tho quotations on Saturday for mining shares were as under:—
STOCK EXCHANGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, May 7. Sale:—Waihi Grand Junction, 9s. 9d. WAIHI COMPANY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 8. Waihi Gold Mining Company Cabled advice regarding the annual report and balance-sheet to December 31, 1920, has been received in Auckland to the following effect Carry forward of .£29,066 from 1919, and surplus of «£14,700, from operations during 1920, have enabled directors to pay same dividend during 1923 as for some years (viz., 4a. per share fer year), totalling £99,181, whilst incuine tax has absorbed £48,000. Directors propose to provide for depreciation of company’s mining assets. £14,900, leaving to be carried forward £14,C00. The report states that the ore reserves have been carefully estimated at 523,630 tons of an average value of 31s. per ton. which could bo worked in the ordinary course of mining. There ia also a further 254,740 tons of ore in pillars and arches of an average value of 38s. per ton. Steps have been taken to return 10?. per share to shareholders, the application being now before tho Court. It is hoped to be able to make the payment to shareholders in or before July.
