1 COMMISSION SITTING ON TUESDAY.

Tho commission that is investigating the claim of H. H. Thompson against the Government is to sit in Wellington on Tuesday next. The case, which has been attracting attention at intervals for several years, arises from the sentencing of Thompson to a term of imprisonment by a court-martial on a charge of having knowingly made a false statement against a superior officer. The statement was that a certain medical officer had been drunk while on duty. Thompson was releaseci after evidence taken in tho Supreme Court had shown that the officer, was addicted to drink, and since then he has claimed compensation for wrongful imprisonment. It is understood that the officer concerned in the case is to give evidence before the commission.
