WAGES ADVANCES NO LONGER PAYABLE.

Official. —The wages advances to cool miners under the November strike settlement are no longer payable, as owing to trade depression tho output is now only 17,650,000 tons, compared with 19,040,000 for the September quarter.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn
PRICES OF COAL INCREASED. (Rec. March 1, 8.5 p.m.) London, February 28.
Mr Evan Williams, president of tho Mining Association of Great Britain, speaking at a meeting of the South Wales Conciliation Board, said that only 16 companies out of 150 paid profit ih January.
The pithead prices of coal at Cardirt yesterday were raised from ss. to 10a. per ton. The best household coal is now £2 13s. 2d. per ton at the pit head.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
