The Duchess was a crowded ferry steamer on the 10.15 a.m. trip yesterday, when 500 pupils of the Terrace School, with 200 parents and friends, journeyed to Day’s Bay for their annual picnic. The pupils spent a most enjoyable time. Swimming and foot races brought large entries, and the well-selected prizes were greatly appreciated by the fortunate winners. Fruit in plenty and lollies were also provided. The School Committee was represented by Messrs. J. A. Thomson, chairman, A. Johnstone, and J. Stickney, and the whole of the school staff worked enthusiastically to make the day an enjoyable one fqr the pupils.
