BOWLS

TRIPPERS TO ENGLAND DEFEATED.

The bowling event of the week is the departure of the New Zealand team of bowlers for England. The team will leave here by the Moeraki for Sydney, there to connect with the Narkunda for London. They are touring under the auspices of the Dominion Dowling Association. and as this is the first properlyorganised party to make such a tour, the members will leave New Zealand with the best wishes of the whole of the bowling community of the Dominion. The "tourists’ will wear an all-white kit. with a black band round their hats, fronted with a sliver fern leaf. They will also take with them a mascot in the form of a bowl made of New Zealand wood, surmounted by a kiwi. The bowl has been fixed to a staff, which will be planted in the bank of ertch green before they commence to play.
