TRAGEDY ON TINAKORI HILLS

A SELF-INFLICTED WOUND. An inquest was held yesterday by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., into the circumstances attending the death of Thomas Bernard Sheehy, a married man, 6S years of age, who had resided with his wile and family in Hawkestone Crescent, ami whose body was found on Monday morning on the Tinakori Hills by the caretaker of ithe wireless station. Charles Edward Sheehy, son of the deceased, said that his father had been employed as a messenger in the Government. Buildings. As far as witness knew he had nothing to worry over. The matter had been discussed between father and son on Friday, when the deceased seemed quite unnecessarily worried. On making an examinnlhon witness found that the man’s throat was cut. He immediately returned and reported the matter to the police Consltable Cattannch stated that he went to the spot indicated by the last witness and found the body of deceased. The bodv was lying about five chains from the track; the throat was cut and there was a razor lying near by. Ihe man had ’been dead some hours, for the bodv was cold and stiff. The body was silbsequontlv removed to the morgiio. The Coroner found that death was due to a wound in the throat self-inflicted with a razor while deceased was suffering from mental depression.
