SYDNEY’S VITAL STATISTICS
IMPROVEMENT IN BIRTHRATE. Sydney, January 12. The vital statistics for 1920 show that there were 22.500 births and 95(10 deaths in Sydney. The birthrate ha.? improved compared with the previous year’s figures. A great proportion of uhe deaths is accounted for by heart disease, pneumonia, and cancer. Cancer continues to increase, and it is officially estimated that a fifth ’bf the middle-aged people died of cancer in some form or other.—Press Assn.’
