Mrs. Knight (Christchurch) and her children are guests of Mrs. J. Armstrong. Danuevirke. Miss Marion Wilson left for Nelson on Monday to join Captain and Mrs. Bird on a camping expedition. Mrs. Dymock has returned from Trantham, where she was staying for Christmas and New Year. Miss Edith M’Master (Masterton) i« paying a brief visit to Wellington. The marriage of Miss Dorothy Natusch, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs G Tille-ard Natu.leh, of Belmont, Ixtwer Butt, to Mr. Derwent Lee, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee, of “Belvoir,” Lower Hutt, was celebrated at St. James’s (jhurch, Lower Hutt, by the Rev. A. L. Hansell on Thursday last. Th<t bride, who was given away by her father; wore a frock of white crepe de chine and georgette and large white hat, her bouquet being composed of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s niece. Miss Nola Heywood, bridesmaid, and Mr. Jack Natusch was the best man. The church was beautifully decorated by intimate friends, and Mr. T. Anson officiated at the organ. Subsequently a large gathering of friends xas held at “Whare Puare,” the residence of the bride’s parents at Belmont, after which Mr. and Mrs. Lee left by motor for the Wairarapa. Mrs. Oscar Kember and family are staying at Paekakariki. A wide circle of friends will regret ip hear of the on Monday afternoon, at her residence, Hawker Street, of Mrs. Mary Ellen Wakelin, widow of the late Mr. Tom Wakelin, 8.A., one time headmaster of the Greytown School, Wairarapa. Mrs. Wakelin, who was the eldest child of the late Mr. Josiah Tocker, of Featherston, leaves n family of five. Two sons (Stanley .and Leopold) predeceased her. The funeral took place at Greytown yesterday-. Among the ladies who are visiting Wellington during the bowling tournament are Mesdames Tilly, London (Wanganui), Watson, Gnihaw, and Kenny (Auckland), Allen (Nelson), Jones (Greymouth), Hayden (New Plymouth), and Drayton (Eltham). The engagement is announced of Miss May B. Pigou, twin (laughter of M». R. A. C. Pigou, "Woodlands,” Marlborough, to Captain G. N. Taylor, only son of Mrs. Taylor, Nelson. With all the arrangements that have been mode to entertain the visiting bowlers and their wives while in Wellington, a very pleasant time should '!>e assured them. Yesterday a party of ladies was taken to see tho animals and gardens at the Zoo, afterwards being entertained at afternoon at the kiosk. This afternoon an observation ear will leave the Post Office at 2.15, and will take the visitors around some of the suburbs, finishing with afternoon tea at Lyall Bay. A. theatre party will conclude the day s outings. Friday and Saturday have also been arranged for (as already mentioned in The Dominion), and next Tuesday Mrs. Bush (the wife of the president) will give a large afternoon tea for the visitors at the Wellington bowling green. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Dolan, of Napier, who are at present in London, expect to leave on their return to New Zealand about January 31. Mrs. Bale has been spending the Christmas and New Year’s holidays with her mother, Mrs. M. Hardy, Palmerston North. Mrs. M'Lean, formerly of Masterton, sailed from Wellington last week en route for India. Later -he will leave for Mombasa (Africa), where she intends spending some time. Mrs. Hugh Webb (Martinboroughl and her family are staying at Seatoun. Sister E. M. Stokes (WaipuKuran Sanatorium) is visiting Christchurch and later will leave for Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. Penlingtun arrived In Wellington early this week from Christchurch. Mrs. Penlington goes on to Auckland and Paeroa, while Mr. lenlington takes part in the Dominion bowling tournament.. Sifter Kathleen, of the West Ham I Central Mission, who arrived in V) Ellington by the Paparoa from taigland, left for Dunedin early this week. Mrs. Will Lawson (Blenheim) is at present visiting Wellington, and is staying with her mother (Mrs. Willis) at Wadestown. As a mark of esteem on his marriage, which took place on Tuesday at Christ Church, 'Ellerslie, Auckland, Mr. E. Hickson was presented by his colleagues on the staff of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company with a salver, cream jug, and bread Jork. Mr. Didsbuiw. joint -manager ot the branch, in making the presentation, tvferred to the regard in which the recipient: was held in the office, and Mr. Clay, chief clerk, also extended the staff’s good wishes to Mr. Hickson, in® Remuera Lawn Tennis Clab presented Miss Crowther and Mr. Hickson with a travelling clock. Miss Crowther was one of the original members ot the club, and Mr. Hickson has always taken a keen interest in the elub, having held . the office of secretary. , Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Bee, of Napier, are residing at Oriental Bay for he summer months. The marriage took place at St. James’* Church, Lower Hutt, yesterday, ot Miss Edith Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Murphy, of Lower Hutt, to Mr. E. IT. Lazarus, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Lazarus, of Wanganui, and formerly of Auckland. Archdeacon Baker officiated. The service was choral, the “Wedding Marell” being played by Mr. Anderson. The bride, who was given awav bv her father, wore a dress of ivory crepe-de-chine, and an overdress of georgette with silver trimmings, and handembroidered veil, arranged in the mob cap stvle, fastened with two dainty spravs of orange blossoms. She carried a prety bouquet of white and pmk carnations and maidenhair fern. Misses Mariorv Hall and Marjorie Lazarus attended as ‘ bridesmaids, wearing respective y shrimp pink and lavender, with hats to match. The best man was Mr. A Bird, and the groomsman, Mr. Felix Murphy, iun. Among the guests present at a reception, which was held at the Lyceum Hall, were: Mrs. T. A. Hunter, RuatnreaAlr. and Mrs. C. B. Later Mr. and Mrs. Lazarus Rft by motor for Napier, the bride travelling in a silver grey gabardine costume, and saxe blue ribbon hat.
