SWIMMING
AMERICAN LADY CHAMPION TO VISIT WELLINGTON. Arrangements.have now been made for. the appearance in Wellington of Miss Bleibtrey, an American, champion swimmer at t'he last Olympic Games. Miss Bleibtrey is already in New Zealand, but the proposal that she should visit Wellington was practically abandoned. There is an assurance now that she will compete at a carnival to be held in Weltington on Wednesday, January 19. The visit has been arranged by the Olympic Council, in conjunction with the lyellington Swimming Centre. Any profits from :he carnival will go towards the expenses )f the next Olympic team to be sent from New Zealand.
