MOTOR BOAT SINKS
ELEVEN PASSENGERS DROWNED. Melbourne, January 10. Eleven persons were drowned in tho Hopkins River at Warnmmbool on Sunday out of eighty passengers making a pleasure trip in a. motor-boat. The boat sprang a- leak and saiik' in ten minutes. Eight bodies have been recovered, and three are still missing. The victims were mostly local residents. The motor-boat was u new one, and began to leak immediately after it started. It filled so fast that an effort to run it a»hore was unavailing, and it drifted into deep water. Most of the passengers, however, managed to scramble ashore, many badly exhausted.—Press Assn.
