The “Daily News” summarises the measures Britain and France are taking in order to fix definitely tho form and amount of the German indemnity and reparations. They include forty-one searching questions, which go to the root of the financial situation in Germany. The German answers probably will be available for the Allied Conference on January 19. The "Daily News” believes that Germany is answering tho questions frankly, including details of the flight of German capital and Germany’s export trade. France is troubled by the cost of the upkeep of the R'hine armies, particularly as 263. million dollars was the cost of upkeep of 14,000 American soldiers, compared with 2002 million francs, the cost of 90,000 French soldiers, since the armistice. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE COAL AGREEMENT GERMAN DELEGATES REFUSE TO NEGOTIATE IN PARIS. Copenhagen, January 9. Advices from Berlin state that the German delegation which negotiated with French representatives regarding the prolongation of the Spa coal arrangement, refuses to resume the negotiations at Paris on tho ground that the demeanour of France has shown that it is impossible to reach any agreement.
