DAIRY PRODUCE
CONSUMPTION OF MARGARINE IN , BRITAIN QUALITY OF~NEW ,ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIAN BUTTER By Teleuraph-Press Asßociation-Copymht (Roc. October 8, 5.35 p.m.) London, October 7. Weddel's annual review of dairy produce shows that Britain's total supplies of butter in 1914-15 was 240,000 tons, and of margarine 197,000 tons. The supplies for 1919-20 were; Butler, 130,000 tons; margarine, 360,000 tons. Thus margarine now represents 75 per cent, of the country's consumption of edible fats. The quality of much of the Government, butter is vory unsatisfactory, notably the Danish and Dutch, but New Zealand and Australian have fully maintained their quality, especially Australian, which has been noticeably improving since Conimonwealth grading was substituted for State grading.—Aus.-N.Z.
