PRINTING TRADES AWARDS
THE QUESTION OP BONUS. A meeting of the Wellington Master Prinfjjrs' Association was held yesterday to consider tht award ju6t brought into force. It was pointed out, tlmt it did not appear possible to obtain printed copies of tho award for a considerable timo yet, but as the award was 'brought into force on September 13, and somu parts are made retrospective to April 2 last, it was necessary to obtain an authoritative idea immediately of tho real meaning of the retrospective portions. An opinion received on the clauscs referred to was very fully considered, and it was decided that only the wages laid down were to 1)G paid before. tlio dnte of tn© award, and that the cost of living bonus was retrospective to September 13 only most, if not all, the employers have been paying the rates of prescribed, there will only be a fortniglit °f tho wages plus bonus, to pay «t !■'"> end of this week.
