SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS CONFERENCE

The annual conferenco of veterans who served in the South African war was held in the hull o£ tho Dominion Farmers' Institute yesterday afternoon. DolcKtitos were present from all parts of the Dominion. Mr. J. A. Sirnson (Hastings) was in the chair. Officers for tho ensnine vear were electel as follow:--President. Mr. J. A. Simson; vice-president, Mr. P. I'. Ilaluin; secretary, Mr. J. J. Olarli; treasurer, }Ir. D. Wilson: executive, Messrs. A. G. Bertram, 0. N. Crcsswcll, N. Wickhani, K. fi. Malcolm. W. A. Gcmniell, J. L. Haselden, J. V. Scott, J. G, LecMe, and tho ofliccrs. The conferencc wbb unanimously of the opinion that tho benefit of tho repatriation schcmc, given to men who scrvcjl in tho Great Wur. should bo extended lo those who sorved in South Africa, v Military pensions by riehl of service were strongly advocated by delegates, so that South African veterans would he placed in the same position bb veteran* of the Macri war, Tho foreeoiue and other matters arisine from tho conference will bo placed heforo tho Prime Minister by a drpii'ation at 10.J0 a.m. to-ilav.
