CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE CONGRESS
IMPORTANCE OF GATHERING EMPHASISED BY THE KING. 1 (Rec. September 22, 0.10 a.m.) Ottawa, September 20. ,The King has sent a cable message to tlio Congress of Chambers of Commerce at Toronto, emphasising the importance of the gathering, being not only conducive to commercial interests, but to tho vory unity of the Empire. Tho Congress decided to-day to create a permanent bureau of standardised information of all colonial methods of valuing imports and'exports. Mr. Sheldon expressed disapproval of tiie exclusion of the Dominions ( from membership of tho Imperial Shipping Committee. ■ Tho congress passed a resolution asking the British Government to afford tho Dominions an opportunity, to nominate their representatives of shipping and trading interests to serve on tho Imperial Committee.—Au6.-N.Z.
