Tlie city ratepayers to-day sanctioned th* City Council nronosa). to borrow .£SO,WW for electricity extensions, while rejecting proposals to borrow ,£20,000 for Domain improvements. The former loan was carried by a majority of 510. and tho latter mis lost by a majority of 401. Of 15,340 ratepayers entitled to vote, only 1332 exercised the franchise. The Domain loan was the tirc-t in the history of the city to be rejected by lb»» ratepayers, while the poll was tho poorest on record .
