REPORTEDTO HAVE SAILED IN KHYBER MOTIVE FOR DEMANDING A TRIAL By Teleeraiili-Prcßa Association-Copyright Melbourne, July 22. A message from Adelaide state that a naval launch transferred Father Jer.ger from the Nestor to tho Khyber late on Wednesday night, and the Khyber ia now sailing for Perth, Mr. W. M. Hughes, commenting on the'developments, said that British wumen had banished from British ships all German seamen, without a trial. Tho Australian Government was banishing industrial Germans, after careful inquiry. Jerger had appealed to tho highest Courts in the Commonwealth, and all had decided in the same way, that lie must go. -■ Senator Gardiner raised the question of tho deportation during a debate in the Senate. Senator Fearce, in reply, said that Jerger's disloyal acta were notified to the Department by devout Catholics, excepting in one. instance. The public demand for a trial was a. move to ascertain the names of -the informants. Another priest who gave information to the Government had already been deported, but not by the Goveminent. During discussion on the Jerger case, a largo crowd gathered outside Parliament House and demonstrated against Jerger's deportation.—Press Assn. . SATISFACTION FELT IN ADELAIDE. (Dec. July 22, 10.5 p.m.) Adelaide, July 22. The Government's coup in smuggling Jerger on board the Khyber surprised and chagrined the priests and supporters, but the feeling in the city is ono of overwhelming satisfaction. A party of Jerger's supporters is proceeding overland to Frcmantle to meet tho Khvbor, which is duo there on Sunday.—Press Assn. ME, TUDOB URGES A TRIAL. (Rec. July 22, 10.5 p.m.) Molbourne, July 22. In the House of Representatives Mr. Tudor moved the adjournment to discuss tho deportation, and urged the Government to give Father Jerger a fair trial, and then if found guilty of disloyalty to deport him.—Press Assn.
