AIMS OF THE GOVERNMENT
GETTING TROUBLES IN HAND BETTER
By Telojfraph-Preai Association-Copyright
London, July 19. Replying to questions in the House of Commons, Mr. Bonnr Law stated that tho Government's Irish policy was unchanged. That policy was: To restore law and order in Ireland by all means in its power, cuul simultaneously to carry out tho Government of Ireland llili. The Government considered that iit view of the powers under tho Defence of the Realm Regulations, the proclamation of martial law in Ireland would not provide a satisfactory method for dealing with the present situation, but tho Cabinet was considering whether additional powers could be usefully securc-d by new legislation. Those best able to judge thought the Government was getting the (roubles better in hand. Ho thought it not reasonable to judge in terms of murders from one week to another.—Reuter.
