CARPENTERS' SOCIETY SUED
ORGANISER CLAIMS HIS WAGES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchuroh, July 14. Reserved judgment was 'given to-day bv Mr. M'CartTiy, S.M., in tho case of Frances Alfred Moody vorsus tho Christchurch branch of tho Amalgamated Society of Carpenters' Union, a claim for ,£l9 10s,, being one month's wages in lieu of notice. The plaintiff, who was organiser for the society, in defiance of tho branch executive, though with the authority of members of the union, took three months' leave of absonce. Subsequently his election as district organiser wos declared void by tho branch executive and on his return from leave ho was refused admission to tho union's office or access to its books by the branch executive. His Worship held that the snperseding of plaintiff was void and gave judgment in "his favour for JCIB 13s. 4<l. and costi.
