WOMEN'S NATIONAL RESERVE

$ A meeting of the Mothers' Help Division of the Women's National Eeserve was held in the Eest Boom, Courtenav Place, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. J. Darling'(president) was in the chair. Considerable correspondence was dealt with, including a letter from a mother who had benefited' by the assistance giver, her by one of the visiting helpers, and who expressed great admiration for tho way in which the latter had carried out her work. The writer considered that the women of the National Eeserve deserved' great credit for organising suoh a scheme of help for mothers. Another letter was from a mother who found the Eest Boom of the greatest service to her when she came to town with her baby. She stated that mothers had by no means an easy time these days} and it was in such ways as these that life was made a little easier for them. She wished tho EestEoom and the Mothers' Help Division ' every success in its most helpful work. It was reported at tho meeting that so great was the demand for help by mothers of young families'thnt another helper had 'been engaged. On all sides the great need was for help, and the great difficulty was how to get to all. As a result of the recent deputation to the Minister of Internal Affairs asking for a subsidy, tho Mothers' Help Division received 'word that it had been granted a subsidy of J3IOO on the basis cf £1 for every £2 raised by the reserve. The following donations to the Visiting Helpers' Fund were acknowledged with thanks—"Anonymous," £3 ; Mrs. Hobbs, one guinea; Mrs. Withers, 10s.; for the Eest Boom, vases from Mrs. Bethune; flowers, Mrs. Whito; 2s. from Mrs. Tanner; sifts of clothinn from Mrs. Swan, Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Glover, Mrs. Baldwin'.
