MAGISTRATE'S COURT
. 'A short sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held on Saturday morning. Mr. B. Page presided. John Cohn M'Kay, an elderly man, who was found wandering about ■ the streets' at an early hour on Saturday, was charged with being a rogue .and a vagabond in that ho possessed insuffir cient lawful means of support. He was remanded for a week in order that tho police might make inquiries and see if he could be taken into the Ohiro Home. A remand to Friday was granted in the case of Wi Papi Nikora, a Maori, who was charged with being a rogue and a vagabond in that he was found playing "hazards"'on the Tug Wharf on Friday. Mr. H: F.'CLeary.appeared for accused; who was granted bail, in the 6um of £10. .. . • '' . Victor Bass was also remanded to Friday on o charge of stealing a Pomniernnian dog, value .£25, the property of AYjlliam. Vettori. The dog was placed'-..in the care of the police in the meanwhile.. A 'Spaniard named Joseph Menden was remanded until to-day en a chargo of assaulting John Nicoll so as to cause him . actual bodily harm.
