FAREWELL MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR-GENERAL
His Excellency tlie Governor-Genera! issues the following farewell message to the people of New Zealand.— ■ "On the eve of sailing from these islands for the Old Country, Lady Liverpool and I desire to convoy to the people of New. Zealand our' best wishes for their welfare- an.l prosperity, and to assure fhem that, though separated from them, wa shall never forget all the kindnesses which we have received during our stay among them. "I am convinced that, though every part of the Empire has had to fneo tho most stupendous difficulties in the lust few years, the nation will cheerfully surmount the obstacles which still remain, and New Zealand, in common with all tho possessions of the Crown, will manfully take its share in solving the problems which confront tho iror.d. "Wo leave New Zealand, which haa been our homo for so long, with deep regret, but we hope some day to revisit its 1 shores and renew our associations with the inhabitants, for whom we shall always entertain nothing but feelings of genuine affection and regard. "Kia ora."
