MINERS' FEDERATION
ANNUAL CONFERENCE OPENED. The nnnnal conference of the -New Zea land' Miners' Federation opened in Wellington yesterday. The following, delegates were present:—Members of- the executive: Messrs. P. O'Rourke.(president), J. M'Bride (vice-president), J. Arbuokle- (secretary); W. Baldereton, and R. Spencer ■ (Grey district), A: Toselnnd (Buller), W. Braidwood' and'. P. Niven(Southern district).; J. O'Brien (North Island), F. Campbell, and H. Pipe (Gold Delegates representing unions: Alillerton, Mr. B. Davidson; Blackball. Mr..';J. M'Quilkln; Taratu, Mr. T. Cairns; Kaitangata, Mr. .R; Penman; To Akalett, Mr. J. Newman; Deiwiston, • Mr, ,1. Whittle; Hiko;angi, <Mr, D. Cochrane; Kiripaka, Mr! J. Hamblyn; ,Shag Point, Mr. A, Dolheguy; Ngakawau,. Mr. W. Phipps; Brunner, Mr. F. Glenn; Nightcaps, Mr. M, Himmilli'Huritly, Mr. A. Leys; Rofcorna, ' Mr.' H. Smitlij. Green Island, Mr. A. Devanny; Waihi, Mr. M. A: Reilly; Pukanuro, Mr. S. Greenalli •State, Mr. P. C. Webb... . . . . ' The unions, unrepresented,, were:— Waronui, Avoca, North' Cape/and.Mataura. The annual report of the executive waa received in committee, and adopted. A delegate from the Broken Hill Minors' Union waited ou the conference, arid.addressed delegates... A report was also received frorii, Mr. J. O'Brien on his mission to Australia. Only formal buninesi was transacted, the conference adjourning at 5.30 p.m. until this, morning. Tho proceedings, which are not open to the. Press,';arc likely to be protracted. .'
