FURTHER, TAXATION ANTICIPATED (Rcc. July 2,' 8 p.m.) ' Sydney, July 2, The State Treasurer (Mr; T: J. Lang), explaining tho heavy deficit in spite of the record revenue, said it wa3 due to increases of unforeseen' expenditure. He instanced the establishment of a basic wage, which cost tho country .£1,758,000, compensation on account of influenza epidemic victims ,£365,000, additional police pay .487,000, fodder for starving stock £131,000. In view of the deficit, further taxation is anticipated.—Press Assn.
