ONSLOW PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION

' The first annual meeting of the Onslow Progressive Association was held in. the Khandallah. Public Hall on. Wednesday evening last, and quite a large number of ■ residents of the district attended. The president (Mr. B. J. Ljnneberg), in his opening; remarks, laid stress upon the necessity for all .residents of the Khandallah, Nsaio, and Kaiwarra districts to join the association, especially since tho Onslow Borough'hod become a part of Greater Wellington. The report submitted contained references to a great number of matters ■upon which the Progressive Association executive had been "busy during the year, and many speakers at the meerinjr expressed surprise at and appreciation of the amount of good work done. In connection with railway matters the 'association has been particularly active, and had been instrumental in securing sflvoral advantages for the district in the: matter of alteration of time-table, etc.. . One request, whjch was refused by the Department was considered by the meeting to be an extremely reasonableone—namely, that season nnd return tickets from Khandallah and Ngaio to Wellington should be available for return ,to Kaiwarra on the Hurt line.. Tho report made the following statement with reference to recreation grounds:— "Tour committee have been in touch with the City Council with reference to provision of suitable recreation grounds, for Ngaio and Khandallah.' A section of land at the corner of Main Eoad and Station 'Bond' at Ngaio has already been seured at a cost of of which £50 was contributed by the residents of Ngaio, who are to bo congratulated on their public spirit." Mr. Lynneberg, was unanimously reelected president for the coming year, and Mr. A. Hamilton and Mr. A. Seed were made vice-presidents. Mr. P. P. Hodson : was again elected secretary, and Mr. E. Hobbs treasurer. For the committee, Messrs. Clark,. Tlaws, Jerram, Meek nnd Worsfold were re-elected, nnd Mr. D. G. M'Call was added as a new member. ..'.,'•
