Tho Hawlre's Bay Joclxv Club's Winter Meeting concluded in glorious weather, but the going was very heavy. Tho totalizator handled .£36,-109, making the investments for the three days ,£95,097, as compared wilh £17.203 Sir tho two days' meeting last year. All started in the Hunters' Steeplechase, Sturdeo being a better favourite than Bollin. The latter shaped badlv, and ran m the rear the whole way. Torncn led for twelve furlongs, where tie favourite look charge, and ran home a comfortable winner from bandringlwm. Bollin was twenty lengths away, and then cama Palarilri. -NelUche fell, ,ind Tomea ran oft. Backers of the favourite in the Hack Hurdles met with a heavy reverse when Signysian, who was out in front, fell at thejecond fence. 'Die winner turned up in Sir Agnes, who scored by a big margin from the second favourite, Mannish. Ranmanuwhiri was a poor third. All .started in the Tnramoe Hurdles, tho bracketed pair, Mill o' Gowrio and Rekanui being favourite, and Thrace 6econd choice. Tho bracket went off in front at' .l big pace, but nt the top o'' tho coui-se Mill o' Gowrio tried to get off, and Goldstream fell. Deviation joined Rekanni down tho back, and across tho bottom Paddington Green ran into the lead. He was D.vt over the last fence, but Thrace finished very lost, and got up and won by n length, Ore Ore was a poor third, and Devmtion finished next.

The sixteen acceptors all started in tho June Steeplechase, Oakleigh being tho actual favourite in a big pool. At the first fence l-'oeman and Harbour Light fell. Guanaco took up the running from Old Mungiudi and Oakleigh, vith tne remainder close up. j-town the back tho last time Guanaso and Maraetotara were clear of tho field, but tfiey both 101 l at the post and rails. Old Mungindi led to the stone wall. There First Line took charge, and from this point he was always in front, and ran in a winner I'rom ilVirokino, Ormesby/aml Old Mungiudi. John Bunny and Manhattan van off. Ethiopian was tho liest backed' of the live starters in the Necklace. 'Jiie favourite, tried to win from end to'end. but in the siruigut Piro Piro ran past hhn, and won pulling '..p. The favourite just beat Army Service, while Loch Dim finished well up. Molyneaux was backed like a good thing in the Soutra Hack Handicap. Beginning smartly, he took up a position behind the. leaders on tho : ails. In the straight he ran past Black Jake and Lord Astolafc, and won by 'a length ?roin yea loam, with Moathenes dose up. Black Lake was fourth. *' Parisian Diamond was backed down to a short prico in the Final Handicap, und was made u good favourite. Gold Kip and Hygiuas were (he noxt to bo supported. The field j,ot away well, and when it had settled down Honey Bee thuwed the way, with Sir Fanciful and Hygiuas in a good position. When the ueads were turned tor home, Gold Kin commenced to thread her way through the field. Finishing .strongly, she won by a length from Sir Fanciful, with Goldsliine third. Income was fourth.
