MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) Carterton, June 2G. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held at Carterton to-dny, Councillor W. Perry presiding. •>' The treasurer reported a debit balance of .£f>ls3, and accounts amounting to ,£1537 17s. -kl. were passed for payment. It was decided to lodgo a formal objection to certain areus in the Carterton borough being transferred to the county, and a special meeting will be held to hear the ratepayers interested. If the council, after hearing the petitioners, sees no reason for the objection, it will be withdrawn. The Masterton County Council advised that the necessary proceedings were being token in connection with the Kaituna Bridge. The Masterton County Council wroto asking for one-fifth contribution of the total, -E62J. 16s. 0d„ expended on tho Mnsterton-Gladstone Road during _ tho past year. It was decided to contribute ,£IOO only this year.

Laing-Menson reported that satisfactory progress was being made by tho contractor for the Cnrrington waterraces, and it was expected the work would he completed in time. Mi". G. Hnghan was granted permission to erect signboards on the county roads. The ranger reported having dealt with 7(1 head of cattle and five horses during the month. A resident who had been grazing stock on the roadside had been warned to discontinue the nrnctice, failing which proceedings would b? taken. General repairs were authorised where required, and an estimate is to be prepared for metalling the main road north.
