Tho Foatherston branch of the Workers' Educational Asosciation has approved of tho proposal emanating from a recent public meeting as to linking up with tho Progress League. The combined organisation will be known as tho Featherston Industrial mid Educational Progress League. Messrs. F. L. Combs, 1v1.A., J. H. Fieldhousc, C. J. Denahey, F. R. Bladen, ami C. Konward will represent the educaf'ional section on the committeo of ten. To date tho. r.ew bod.v ami the Marfinborough Chamber of 'Commerce have not been included in tho list of WaiTarapa bodies to he invited to take part in tho district conference convened' by the Greytown Chamber of Commerce.
At the recent congress of the British Institution of Metaia a valuable report was read on the corrosion of condenser lubes—a subject in which so many engineers are keenly interested. This report was the fifth of a scries, recording researches undertaken by a special committeo of the institute. Experiments havo been made with alloys of copper and fciue, and many suggestions mndo for avoiding or reducing- corrosion. In the British Navy trials are being made with oxidised tubes, and a British company has been formed to exploit an electrolytic process which • deposits and maintains a protective layer of lime- on the Burfaco of tho tube.
