HAWSE'S BAY 'PROTEST AGAINST DIVERSION. . By Telegraph-Press Association ••■•■■ Napier,. June 25. A conference of local body .representatives of Hawke's. Bay convened by tho Hawke's Bay HospitaJ and Charitablo Aid Board, met to-day to protest against the Government; decision to use the Howard bequest to establish an agricultural college at' Levin. There was a large attendance' from every part of the district, and the meeting seemed determined to fight hard to have the money expended in Hawke's Bay. A strongly worded resolution was. carried, emphatically protesting against the Government's action in proposing to divert the bequest to Weraroa. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, and a petition is being prepared for signature l>y Hawkes Bay residents.
