MAGISTRATE'S COURT

POLICE AND MAINTENANCE OASES. Mr. B. Page. S.M., presided at the .Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. Daniel Murphy, against whom there were anven previous convictions, was. convicted of drunkenness once, again, and was fined £3, in default seven days' imprisonment; for using obeccno language in Dixon Street ha was fined £5 with tho ontion of 21 days' Imprisonment, and for committing a breach of his prohibition order ho was fined 205.. with the alternative of three days' imprisonment

There were five previous convictions for drunkenneas against James Wilson and for. a sixth offence he waa fined £3, with the option of seven days' imprisonment; ho was also fined 205.. with tho alternative of. three days' imprisonment for committing a hreaoh of his prohibition order.

For drunkenness Thomas' Edward Calvert, againßt whom there was one previous conviction, was fined 205., tho amount of his bail, and Guy Cockburn.waß fined 135.. with the option of 48 hours imprisonment.

MAINTENANCE OASES. William Gray Hail Baillie, who had failed to comply with the terms of a maintenance order, was convicted nnd sentenced to a month's, imprisonment, tho warrant to be Biisponded so long as 12s. fid. nor week is paid, including 2s. 6d. weekly in reduction of arrears.

In tho oaae of John Gordon, tho arrears amounted to £13 is., and he was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as 325. «C. per week is paid. Charles Francis Leathern was ordered to contribute 153. per week towards the support of his children. Albert Carpenter, who was in arrear with his maintenance payments to the extent of £35 lis., was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he nays 20s. weekly. On the application of his wife a separation order was icadc against Kenneth Pjivitt, who was ordered to par 255. per week towards her support.

George Cameron was ordered to pay 355. ner week towards the lupport of his wife, also to pay ss. per week oil arrears of maint'n.iSco totalling £12.
