THE SHANTUNG QUESTION
STATEMENT BY JAPANESE POR- ! ' EIGN OFFICE. (Rec. Juno 21, 7.45 p.m.) Tokio, June 20. The Foreign Office has issued a statement regarding the negotiations between China and' Japan on the Shantung question, as follows:—"It is a source of the deepest Tegret that at a time when ail tho nations of the world are making efforts towards tho establishment of on enduring peace the question of importance to China and Japan should remain unsettled. Japan stands unchanged in its sincere desire to promote a fair and just solution of the Shantung question with the least possible delay, and will pursue • a fixed policy towards China."—Aus.-N.Z.
